Dutch Comic Con Sunday Summer Edition
Dutch Comic Con: Sunday Summer Edition Experience
I had the pleasure of attending the Dutch Comic Con on Sunday this past weekend, and I have to say, I was pretty impressed! The event took place in Utrecht, Netherlands, at the Jaarbeurs Convention Center, and it was absolutely packed with people of all ages dressed up as their favorite characters. Even though it was crowded, the event ran smoothly, and there was plenty to see and do.
One of the highlights for me were the massive props from Star Wars. Next to that, there were so many talented artists selling their wares, from comics and illustrations to jewelry and plushies. I spent quite a bit of time browsing some of the amazing artwork on display.
There were also a ton of great cosplayers at the event. It was so much fun seeing all of the creativity on display, from simple costumes to elaborate ones that must have taken hours to put together. Everyone seemed to be having a great time showing off their hard work.
I had a blast at Dutch Comic Con: Sunday Summer Edition, and I’m definitely looking forward to attending again in November.

If you're a fan of cosplay, then you'll definitely want to check out Dutch Comic Con's Sunday Summer Edition! There were some amazing cosplays on display.
-The Nurse
-Pyramid Head
-Kylo Ren
-Darth Maul
-Darth Vader
-Stormtroopers
-Chewbacca
-The Mandalorian
-Darth Raven
-Chainsawman
There were so many great cosplays at Dutch Comic Con that it was hard to pick just a few to highlight! I noticed afterwards that most of my choices had been from the Star Wars universe.
Dutch Comic Con Foodtrucks
When it comes to the Dutch Comic Con, there is no shortage of food options. From traditional Dutch snacks to fully-fledged meals, there is something for everyone. And what better way to enjoy your food than by grabbing it from one of the many food trucks that will be present at the convention?
Here are just a few of the mouth-watering options that you can expect to find:
Onigiri: Onigiri is a traditional Japanese food consisting of seasoned rice formed into small triangular or cylindrical shapes and often wrapped in nori (seaweed). It is typically filled with various ingredients, such as pickled vegetables, cooked fish or seafood, or other flavorful items. Onigiri is a popular snack or light meal in Japan and is often enjoyed on-the-go or as part of a bento box.
Waffel truck: delicious bakery-made wafels, available in all types of ways; I ate some with bakery cream!Hot Dog: The Hot Dog truck was present again, and with all these food options, you are probably wondering, Is it expensive?
In short, yes, the food is quite overpriced, but hey, Dutch Comic Con is an experience you won't forget any time soon. In my opinion, it is therefore worth it!
Air flow at HDCC
During my time at HDCC, I noticed that the airflow inside the venue was moderate, but there were moments when it felt a little too hot, especially in crowded areas. While it didn't detract completely from the experience, it would have been more preferable to have a cooler atmosphere.
Despite the occasional discomfort, attendees remained enthusiastic and determined to enjoy the event to the fullest. Many cosplayers and fans adapted by choosing lighter costumes or finding less crowded spots to take breaks and cool down. It was inspiring to see everyone's dedication and resilience. Some people didn't give a pie about wearing heavy and hot costumes!
The organizers of HDCC are aware of the issue and continuously strive to improve ventilation and airflow for future editions. They value the feedback from attendees and work diligently to create a more comfortable environment, ensuring that everyone can fully enjoy the event without being overly affected by the heat.
In the meantime, it's advisable for attendees to come prepared by wearing breathable clothing, carrying water bottles to stay hydrated, and taking advantage of any available cooling stations or less crowded areas. With these adjustments, navigating the moderate airflow and occasional warmth at HDCC becomes more manageable, allowing everyone to still have a fantastic time exploring the diverse range of activities and attractions the event has to offer.

Cosplayer insider HDCC
Invited cosplayers by Heroes Dutch Comic Con, some of whom are renowned figures in the cosplay community, had somewhat of a disappointing experience behind the scenes. Despite their invitations, many of them discovered that certain essential expenses were not covered. Firstly, parking costs were not compensated, leaving the cosplayers to bear the financial burden themselves. Additionally, there were reports of inadequate compensation for other expenses, such as hotel accommodations, which can be significant for out-of-town cosplayers.
Furthermore, it was disheartening for both the invited and famous cosplayers to find that they were not adequately compensated for the additional costs they had to incur. This lack of compensation included expenses for hotel stays, which are often necessary for cosplayers who have traveled long distances to attend the event.
The dissatisfaction extended to the provided meals, as the food quality did not meet the expectations of the cosplayers. The disappointing dining experience left them feeling let down and unsatisfied.
Despite these setbacks, the cosplayers remained committed to their craft and dedicated themselves to creating remarkable cosplays that enthralled and entertained fans. Their passion and talent continued to shine, even in the face of these challenges.
This experience serves as a reminder to event organizers about the importance of recognizing and appreciating the contributions of cosplayers. It highlights the need for proper compensation, not only for the material costs involved but also for the time, effort, and creativity invested by cosplayers in their craft.
This experience also underscores the importance of event organizers ensuring that all participants, regardless of their fame or status, receive fair and appropriate support and recognition for their contributions.
